Arizona’s Only Black-Owned Brewery offers Black History Month IPA
In honor of Black History Month, Kitsune Brewing Co. is launching an exclusive black IPA named Know History. Throughout the month of February, Tyler Smith, co-owner of Kitsune with his wife Rebecca, is donating a percentage of this limited-time-only pour to Black Girls Code, an organization dedicating to creating pathways for young women of color to embrace the current tech marketplace as builders and creators by introducing them to skills in computer programming and technology. “As a black-owned business and the only black-owned brewery in the state, we want to use our position to help,” says Smith who opened Kitsune Brewing Co. in October 2022. “I want to help break down racial stigmas and serve as a voice for diversity in our industry.” All month long, proceeds from the Know History IPA will benefit Black Girls Code. City of Scottsdale and ESPN to Present Historic Old Town ESPN Main Street Tailgate
The City of Scottsdale is pleased to announce the debut of the Historic Old Town ESPN Main Street Tailgate, a five-day Old West-style football pre-game party taking place Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023 through Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023 along Main St. between Scottsdale Rd. and Brown Ave. in Old Town. In conjunction with ESPN, the event will serve as the backdrop for much of the network’s pre-game coverage of Super Bowl LVII, which will be played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale. Over the course of this experience, multiple ESPN television programs, including NFL Live and Sunday NFL Countdown, will be live from the Historic Old Town ESPN Main Street Tailgate. “Scottsdale will be the stage for ESPN’s broadcasts during one of the busiest sports weeks of the year,” says Mayor David D. Ortega. “Historic Old Town is the ideal showcase — the perfect blend of historic southwestern charm and modern appeal. Residents and visitors alike will love the ESPN experience located on Main St. surrounded by our vibrant arts and world-class shopping and dining.” The Historic Old Town ESPN Main Street Tailgate will be going strong all day long — from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. — Wednesday, Feb. 8 through Saturday, Feb. 11 – with multiple ESPN productions each day. Then, from 8 a.m. until noon on Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 12) ESPN will be live for its final production of the week. ESPN will have more specific announcements around its programming in the coming weeks. Throughout the event, guests can enjoy games and live performances from local favorites including The Singing Cowboy Gary Sprague and his trusty steed Dusty. Some of the area’s most popular and delicious dining destinations will have food available for purchase to fuel the festivities as well as plenty of swag and giveaway items.
