Join the Arizona State University Pan Devils Steel Band with special guest Chris Tanner. Chris Tanner is the founder and director of the Miami University Steel Band and serves as President and founding member of the National Society of Steel Band Educators (NSSBE), a non-profit organization created in 2016, dedicated to advancing steel band education in the United States. The Pan Devils Steel Band are graduate and undergraduate students bringing the energetic sounds of the West Indies to the School of Music. The steel drum is popular throughout the world and has gained acceptance as a serious musical instrument. Today it can be found in calypso bands, rock bands, classical ensembles, jazz combos and about any other kind of music ensemble imaginable.
