Nationally: Led by chef, author, and restaurateur Marcus Samuelsson as board co-chair, Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) is a national non-profit that educates and guides underserved high school students toward a bright future. Through our holistic approach to culinary training and career exploration, C-CAP prepares students for the workplace through chef mentoring, field trips, job shadows, work experience and job skills, and college and career advising. Founded by culinary educator and cookbook author Richard Grausman, C-CAP impacts over 17,500 students a year and has also awarded over $56 million in scholarships since its inception. Countless C-CAP alumni work throughout the country and are guiding the future leaders of the culinary and hospitality industry. 6th Annual Live and Local Festival
Event passes are now on sale for the sixth annual Live & Local evening festival celebrating Arizona food, music, beer and spirits. Live & Local is presented by GoDaddy and will take place on Sunday, November 11 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Live & Local will take over The District at Desert Ridge Marketplace for the second year in a row as a benefit for the 20,000 youth served by Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale (BGCS). Live & Local is hosted by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale Associate Board in partnership with Arizona Restaurant Association and is supported by community corporate sponsors. Live & Local features local restaurants, mixologists and performers. Sponsorship opportunities are available including ticket packages and inclusion on promotional materials. The early bird discounted price for event passes is $110 each available until September 15. Standard pricing of $150 per pass begins after that. Event passes include drink samples from multiple full cocktail bars, a beer garden, wine stations and dish samples from more than 20 local restaurants. Passes also include access to on-stage entertainment including DJ Miss Mixx and Nate Nathan & The MacDaddy-Os.

9th Annual Chandler Chuck Wagon Cook-off
Experience a rare, up-close look at Western history during this free, family-friendly culinary event. Authentic 1880s chuck wagon teams from around the West use historic cooking methods to create the best meals fit for the trail. Wagon teams win prizes in various food categories and the public can purchase these unique chuck wagon meals. Saturday lunch meal tickets are $15 and go on sale at 10 am, November 10. Meal tickets sell out quickly! In addition, advanced tickets for a chuck wagon-style meal from a local eatery available online. Enjoy Western history, cooking demonstrations, unique vendors and live music. Details at Hosted by the Pardners of Tumbleweed Ranch, a 501c3 entity, and the Chandler Museum. Funds raised help develop educational outreach opportunities at Tumbleweed Ranch.

Arizona Fall Festival
The Arizona Fall Fest presented by Local First Arizona is a free, family-friendly (and dog-friendly!) celebration of all things uniquely Arizona. The Arizona Fall Fest is the only exclusively Arizona festival of its size. Author Bob Boze Bell: The Illustrated Life and Times of Wild Bill Hickok
Bob Boze Bell will present and sign copies of his new book, Illustrated Life and Times of Wild Bill Hickok, at Bryan’s Side Door in Cave Creek, on Thursday, November 8th, 2018, from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Admission of $20 includes a Bryan’s BBQ Buffet, book discussion and signing. Books will be available at the event for purchase. Seating is limited and guests must make a reservation prior to the event by calling 480-575-7155 at Bryan’s BBQ. Bob will also discuss his book The 66 Kid, Life on The Mother Road. The “Prince of Pistoleers” meets the “Prince of Western History” in the much anticipated newly released book from Bob Boze Bell, The Illustrated Life and Times of Wild Bill Hickok. The book is chock full of great art, rare photos, authoritative history, and that unique dose of Boze whimsy that True West Magazine readers have come to expect. Bell is the co-owner and publisher of True West magazine and the host of Outrageous Arizona, an Emmy-winning documentary about Arizona's road to statehood. He has published and illustrated groundbreaking books on Wyatt Earp, Billy the Kid, and Doc Holliday, as well as his series entitled Classic Gunfights.

The East Valley is about to take off on Friday, November 16th from 5-7:30 pm at the Commemorative Air Force Museum located at the SW corner of Falcon Field in Mesa.
