LDV Winery Announces Release of Two New Wines  - LDV Winery Owners and Winemakers Curt Dunham and Peggy Fiandaca have announced the recent release of two new wine varietals — the 2014 Sky Island Petite Sirah and 2017 Viognier. The wines are now available at the LDV Winery Tasting Room. The 2017 Viognier encompasses 100 percent estate Viognier aged in new French oak barrels that were customized made, neutral oak barrels and stainless steel, then blended to result in a full-bodied complex Viognier. This wine offers bright fruit flavors and an exceptional acid balance that makes it an ideal wine to pair with a variety of foods. The 2017 Viognier offers a nose and mouthful of tropical fruits such as pineapple and mango with a burst of fresh honey and vanilla as well as a background of oak and spicy notes complementary to the richness of seared scallops, grilled sea bass, poached lobster, roast chicken and grilled shrimp — even apricot-studded brie or crème brulée. Retail is $29 per bottle; LDV club members enjoy special discounts. The 2014 Sky Island Petite Sirah is a 100 percent Petite Sirah showcasing intensity of the fruit and true reflection of the 2014 vintage. Aged for an extended period of 35 months in neutral barrels, this varietal was then bottle aged for an additional 18 months. A fruit-forward wine with blackberries and blueberries, it shows black raspberry and lilac in the nose and black and blue fruit flavors with a hint of rose petals lingering on the palate. Perfect with pepperoni pizza or anything coming hot off the grill! Retail is $30 per bottle.
